March 2021 Newsletter

MESSAGE FROM MRS JONES

I hope everyone remains safe and well.

We are very much looking forward to seeing all the children back in school on Monday 8th March 2021.  We ask that all parents who are coming onto the school grounds wear face masks for the safety of everyone in the school community.

Attendance from 8th March will be mandatory.  All pupils are expected to return to school on this date as long as they are fit and well.

We do ask that parents and carers are prepared for changes if the opening of the school is deemed to be unsafe, or if classes need to be sent home due to COVID positive incidents.

Pupils will spend the vast majority of their school day with their class group, as was the case in the Autumn term.

For more information on the reopening of school you can read the letter we sent out last week  here.

Thank you again, to all parents and carers for your amazing support to your children and the school during this latest lockdown.

For information on helping your child adjust to returning to school, please see the article below with some tips on preparing your child to return to school which we hope you will find helpful.

To all our pupils…. we can’t wait to see you on the 8th March!

Take care of yourselves and each other.

Mrs Jones

PREPARING YOUR CHILD TO RETURN TO SCHOOL

Tips for parents and caregivers

(Advice from Young Minds and Mental Health UK)

Start talking

Your child might have worries about the virus, restrictions in place or their education and school.

Talk to your child about how they are feeling about going back to school and try not to make assumptions.  Ask them if they are worried or feel scared about anything, but also if they are excited about or looking forward to something.  No matter how your child feels, let them know that it is completely normal to feel a mixture of emotions and that everyone will be in the same boat.

Reassure your child.  During the lockdown we have been told to stay at home, remain socially distant from others and wash our hands regularly.  This means children may find it difficult to go back to school because it will be a huge change from what they have been asked to do during the pandemic.  Talk with your child about ways they can stay safe at school, such as washing their hands before and after eating, and reassure them that the school are putting measures in place to keep them safe.

Sleep routine

Re-establish a routine to help ease into school life.  During lockdown it is understandable that your family’s routine may have changed.  Children are likely to have been waking up later or going to bed later.  To help them get ready for school, try to gradually get them back into their usual morning and bedtime routines as they get closer to their return date.

Make yourself available as much as possible

Children may want to come and “debrief” but maybe not when you expect.  Create space for talking in different ways, such as going on a walk together or baking together – there may be less pressure in these circumstances than when sitting face-to-face.

Look at the positives
