Admissions
School admissions is often a very anxious time for parents. To help you identify whether Vaughan Primary school is the right choice for you and your child, our prospectus is available here. Together with the video, the prospectus will give you an insight into what life is like as a member of the Vaughan Primary school community.
We are a three-form entry school, which means we have three classes of 30 children in each year group. Whilst the Local Authority School Admissions office manage applications for places at our school, Mr Byford (the Admissions Officer) is available to discuss how this process works and answer any questions you may have about Vaughan Primary School. Admission to Vaughan Nursery (Nursery 2027 and in-year joiners)
We currently provide 15 hours of nursery care each week in a Morning class, which runs from 8.40am - 11.40am. We have places for 26 children and Nursery provision is paid for using the 15 hours of free childcare available to all 3-4 year old children. Applications for an immediate start are managed directly by the school and all enquiries should be sent to Mr Byford, using the Admissions email address shown below. We can accept children who will be old enough to start in the Reception Year the following September - this means that children born between September 2022 and August 2023 can join us this academic year. At the moment, our Morning class is full, but we do operate a wanting list. Please contact Mr Byford for more information.
Applications for a Nursery place for children born between September 2023 and August 2024 and looking to start in September 2027 should be made using the Harrow Council 'Apply for a nursery school' webpage. The closing date for applications to be included in the first round of offers was 15 January 2027.
The school will be provided with the applicant details in late March 2027, and the first round of offers will be made in early April 2027, in accordance with the selection criteria applied by the local authority. These are explained within the Primary School Guide 2027/28 linked at the bottom of this page. Applications received after the 15 January 2027 will be included in subsequent offers, subject to the availability of places in our Nursery.

Admission to Vaughan Primary School (In-year transfers and Reception 2027 applications)
As a maintained school, admissions for both the Reception 2027 intake and in-year transfers are managed by Harrow Council.
In-year transfer applications must be made by following this link: Apply for a primary school place – London Borough of Harrow and using the 'in-year application form'.
Applying for a place in Reception, starting September 2027: The Reception September 2027 intake will be for children born between September 2022 and August 2023. The application process can be accessed by using the link in the above paragraph and scrolling down to the green box.
Whilst the school can offer general advice regarding how the application and allocation process works, we have no role to play in managing the applications or deciding who is offered a place. More information on the application for, and allocation of, places in Harrow schools can be found in the 'Primary Schools Guide', linked at the bottom of this page. This document is a 'must read' for parents applying for a Reception place as it contains very useful information to help you make an informed decision about where to apply for.
Applicants should be aware of the criteria used by the Harrow School Admissions office when offering places. Distance between home and school is one you should be aware of. Use this link to find your nearest primary school. Parents with children enrolled in our Nursery this year should be aware that this does not guarantee the offer of place in the next Reception intake.

Starting in Nursery and in year transfer - September 2026 onwards
Start dates for children joining us in Nursery or Primary years will be arranged once the enrolment process is complete. If you are offered a place at our school, we will need you to provide us with:
- A document that shows your child's date of birth (such as a copy of their birth certificate or passport), and
- A document that shows the parent's name and address (such as a copy of your council tax bill, a recent utility bill or bank statement)
These documents should not be sent in unless specifically requested by the Admissions office and are linked to an offer received from the Harrow Council school admissions office.
Tours of Vaughan Primary School
We offer tours of our school during September, October & November, to coincide with the application period for Reception places for the following September. The tours are hosted by our Head Teacher, Mrs Jones, and comprise an introduction to Vaughan, a tour of the whole school and facilities, and conclude with a Q&A session. Each event will last for around an hour.
Please be aware that we cannot allow strollers or push-chairs to be walked through the school, so any small children will need to be carried during that part of the tour. There is no parking for parents attending the tour, but places for Blue Badge holders can be reserved by prior arrangement with the School Office.

Places on each tour are limited, so please book early by clicking on this link and navigating to one of the above dates.
It is not possible to arrange bespoke tours at other times, but we are happy to provide you with as much help and support as we can. This can either be over the telephone, via email, or arranging a meeting with Mr Byford in the School Office. Year 6 to Year 7 transition – moving on to High School
The application process for places in High School is managed by Harrow Council (for maintained schools) or by the individual Academy Trusts. Applications for a maintained school in Harrow are made using the 'Apply for a Secondary School' page on their website.
The application process for High School opened on 1 September 2026 and closes on 31 October 2026. You can still apply online after the closing date, but late applications will be processed after the first round of offers have been made.
Many of our Year 6 students move to local High Schools, such as Nower Hill, Whitmore and Hatch End, whilst others have gone further afield. Deferring entry to Reception
Please see page 20 of the Primary School Guide 2027/28 (linked below) for information regarding deferring your child's start date. The process is fully explained in that document. Please be aware that applications to defer a start date must be made to the local authority by 15 January 2027.
How to Appeal
If you wish to appeal against the decision to offer you a school place, appeal forms are available on Harrow Council's website at Appeal a school place – London Borough of Harrow. If you wish to appeal about a place at a community school, please email schooladmissions@harrow.gov.uk or telephone 0208 901 2697.
An appeal has to be made in writing, setting out the grounds on which it is made, in full. You must include a full description of your case. Additional information and evidence supporting your appeal and its grounds should be submitted as soon as possible and before the appeal hearing. Please note that any evidence or information submitted on the date of the appeal may not be considered.
Not a resident in Harrow
Only residents Harrow Borough can apply for a primary school place using the Harrow School Admissions website. If you are not a resident of Harrow, please contact your local council for more information.
